One Of Those Days…

Today was one of those perfect, summer family days.  The kids slept in until  7:30am, we had a simple breakfast, lounged around awhile and headed to the pool.  Ella and Andrew were in a great mood and so excited to be swimming with mommy and daddy.  There weren’t many people  there so it was quite  relaxing – even with a 1 and 3 year old.  After a couple of hours, we headed home for a little downtime and rest. Andrew slept for over 2 hours, Ella watched some Nick Jr, Brian caught up on some WOW (World of Warcraft) and I even got an hour nap in. I was even lucky enough to have Brian head to the store to pick up some pork steaks to grill, I had some corn on the cob in the fridge, opened some applesauce and topped it all off with strawberry shortcake!  Mmmmm…What could be more perfect for a summer day?!

It’s so easy to get caught up on the weekends with  the errands to run, house to clean, laundry to wash, and bills to pay and all the other things on our to-do list, that we forget to relax and enjoy life a little.  I need more of those days – we all do!  I’ve just decided that I’m going to seriously try to have one of those days every weekend.   It’s good for our kids, good for our marriages and good for ourselves.  I’ll keep you updated!  Let me know if you do too!
