Green Tip – Share Your Breakfast With A Friend

green kidsDon’t toss out that left over crust or stale bread – give it to your fine feathered friends!

Instead of tossing out your leftover breakfast breads, tie a string around your bagels and hang from a tree or break toast and bread into tiny pieces to be gobbled up by birds and squirrels.  You’ll gain lots of visitors to your yard  that will feast on insects and be fun to watch!  Best of all, there is no waste and the entire treat is edible!

We have a bird that visits our yard that thinks it is our pet.  He hangs out on the swing set, walks right up to the patio doors and peaks in and sits very quietly most of the day watching the kids play.  I’ve never seen anything like it!  My kids get a kick out of giving him all their scraps and call him “their bird!”.

So, make sure that next time you have left over “bones” (as my dad calls the bread crust) or stale cereal, you toss it out for your friendly yard visitors!
