Green Tip

green kidsI’m not the most eco-friendly mom in the world, but I certainly try to make simple changes to my everyday life to make the world a better place now and in the future.    Here’s a small change to make a big difference that we’ve implemented in my household…

Get cleaner laundry! Add about 1/4 cup white distilled vinegar to the last rinse or to your automatic fabric softener dispenser. White vinegar is mild enough for fabrics, yet strong enough to dissolve soaps and detergents. Besides removing soap, vinegar prevents yellowing, brightens colors and whites, acts as a fabric softener and static cling reducer, and attacks mold and mildew.

Next time you’re out of your regular fabric softener, head to the condiment isle to pick up a gallon of white vinegar!  You’ll also save lots of $$!!

And you know, it surprisingly leaves no smell when your clothes come out! Just fresh and clean!

I add a little more then that, about 1/2 cup for larger loads, but if particularly dirty, (mowing grass clothes and all towels) I add a cup along with the laundry soap.

I love it. My laundry room smells like a salad bar, but the cloths don’t!
