With the whole Kanye West/Taylor Swift VMA drama, it made me start thinking. Is it really OK to say whatever you want, whenever you want? Take a minute and watch my vlog take on it below.
Make sure to leave me your thoughts as well! What do you think, is it OK?

I think people just don’t have respect anymore. Last night Jay Leno confronted him though and he asked him “what would your mom say about what you did” and you could tell that he hit a huge nerve. Kanye is a big D-Bag for what he did but Kudos to Beyonce for her class in letting Taylor come and finish her speech. Ok back to the question. I think people are less scared of not being liked or respected. You can have all the money in the world but if you are a butthead you will always be a butthead. Some people maybe were raised to just not care.

Candy,
You’re right…people don’t seem to mind anymore if they are liked or not. Sometimes they just don’t care.
I have to admit, I am so sick of people saying whatever is on their mind and then thinking that a simple apology just wipes the slate clean. Serena Williams, Joe Wilson, Kanye, Michael Richards, Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, blah blah blah … what the heck is going on in society today?
It’s like they think the possibility of a canned apology gives them free reign to act like asshats.

You hit the nail on the head with this one! I’m so with you on people just thinking they can give a canned apology and it makes everything OK. No, it’s not OK. You hurt someone and it’s not fair that you get to feel better just by saying I’m sorry.
Nice to see the face behind the Blog. Nice to meet you.
I think you are so right! I’m appauled at Kanye’s outburst and I feel he should publicly appologize to her. He’s already hurt her and its not right. I think he was possibly a little too happy

Yes, I agree. I think he apologized, but I don’t think she should accept his apology.
It’s nice to meet you too! : )
OOOooh, good question. I am a BIG constitutionalist and I believe in freedom of speech…
HOWEVER, I also believe that if you can’t say something nice, don’t say it at all.
Kanye? What the?? How devastated did Taylor look up there? A night that dreams are made of? UNCONSCIONABLE. Hats off to Beyonce, what a classy move that was.
I think it is a huge problem in our society, people feeling free to say whatever they want, and having an outlet (the internet) to hurt people anonymously. Terrible.
How much better off would we all be if everyone treated others the way they want to be treated? Great job on your first vlog!!
Hi Gina,
I am totally with you on free speech – but as you say, not when it hurts someone. Thank goodness Beyonce was so classy. But, did you see her face when Kanye said that. I think she stopped breathing for a second.
Oh – and thanks for the compliment! I’m loving my new camera and will be doing more vlogs now : )
I don’t think it’s ok, but with him you never know what stupid thing he’ll do next!

Thanks Suzanna! I think that it’s always better to get to know the person behind the blog, personally. I always like to put a “voice” to the words. : )
PPL are jerks & its getting old fast! Before you could excuse the old man for blurting out something terribly rude now we have ppl who know MUCH better doing it? What is what with ppl. If what you say is going to hurt someone shut your darn trap

I agree. It was just plain rude and uncalled for. I would never hurt someone the way he did to Taylor. RUDE is the nicest thing to say about him.
I agree completely with Gina Newberry. In fact, she said exactly what I was going to say, so I won’t be redundant!

Yes, Gina said it best. It is our right to have freedom of speech, but not to abuse it by hurting someone. It’s not right.
I believe people have the rigth to speak their minds – BUT – there was no need for him to be disrespectful to that little girl. If he felt Beyonce should have won he should have said something after the show when people were doing interviews. He didn’t have to do it the way he did.
That’s right, that’s what the interviews are for: REACTIONS to the awards.
I believe in freedom of speech, but not at the expense of other people. When I saw the replay on the news, my response was WTH? How can you possibly think that what you just did was right? There’s a time and place for everything. I have never been a big fan of Kayne West, and he just reminded me of why. I don’t care how talented you are, there’s no excuse for rude behavior.
He needs to disappear and regroup. Hopefully he will come back a better person.
Beyonce is a truly a lady of class.

I have no idea how someone can think that is OK. What in the world was going through his mind at that very moment. Obviously, not much at all. Yes, he needs to regroup for sure!
This one is touchy. I think it depends on the situation. If someone asks me a question then yes I can say whatever I want. I can say whatever I want in print as well to an extent, However this was more about Kanye upstaged her and was extremely rude about how it was done. He did finally apologize, but we shall see I guess

Yes, exactly. Filter what you say to not hurt someone else. That’s a must in my book.
I’m not the type of person that will say what I think unless it’s “appropriate” or really necessary. I think Kanye speaks before he thinks.. That’s his problem. Although I really don’t think he does care about the aftermath.

I agree that actually thinking before you speak is a good rule. Especially in a Live situation! LOL
Especially since live is his forte. I don’t really don’t think it hurts him financially. Good or bad publicity it’s all the same for him. lol
