Green Tip: Replace Your Furnace Filter

furnace

green kidsWith cold weather right around the corner, now is the perfect time to replace your furnace filters.

Keep your heating system operating at it’s best by changing the filters monthly during peak operating season.  Clogged filters reduce airflow, reducing energy efficiency.  New filters can also reduce airborne allergens such as pollen, dust and mold.

Filers come in many different sizes and have the correct size printed right on them.  Make sure to check them out before you head to your local hardware store or Target or Walmart.  Most cost under $10  and are very cost effective to change monthly.  For the most part, filers just slide in and out of your furnace or air duct.  Check your owner’s manual.

By keeping your filters clean and clog free, you’ll be increasing your energy efficiency, helping your furnace last longer and keeping your air quality cleaner inside you home!

Is it terrible that I didn’t even know we have a furnace filter? I’ll ask hubby to check so we can get that changed.

You are so right, we try to stay on this often because my dad gave me grief about it before.

I bet a lot of people don’t know to do this. I didn’t until my husband started doing it!
