It’s the day before Thanksgiving! I am so excited and thankful for my family that I will be spending tomorrow with. We’ll spend the day at home relaxing before our big meal at dinner time.
I’m in the process of getting my turkey ready for brining – something I’ve never done. I’m looking forward to the results. Hey…if it’s good enough for The Pioneer Women family, it’s good enough for the All Things Mamma family! : )
We picked up a coconut cream pie and some of those yummy, yeasty dinner rolls from our local Apple Barn – should be a treat! We’re also making a pumpkin pie. Can’t have too much pie at Thanksgiving!
Well, the kids are waking and I have a ton to do! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with whomever you’re thankful for!
*UPDATE*
Well, the first steps of brining the turkey…not so good. I heated the herbs with water, cooled and went to pour into turkey bag in roaster pan. The bag folded over as I poured and about 3 gallons OR MORE of water, vinegar, salt, sugar and herbs went flowing out. There was water and herbs everywhere! Under the stove, under the cabinets and even went flowing around the corner. Ugghhh! Such a mess! I asked Ella to run upstairs to get me some towels and she came running back as fast as her little legs could carry her with…3 paper towels! God love her! She tried!
Stay tuned for more updates…..

I AM ROLLING!!!! Ok, probably not so funny if I had to clean it up, but just the thought of it. Kinda sounds like the beginning of my Thanksgiving holiday…Max came home from school with a FANTASTIC holiday recipe. His teacher had taught them all how to make pumpkin pie in a zip-lock bag….yes, “pie in a bag”…How bad can it be? …I thought…We took a trip to Kroger for the ingredients…(who knew pumpkin pie spice cost $4.00??)Anyway, we got the stuff and came home to conquer. Just to let you know, these are individual pies made in little bowls….. he wanted to make 17 so everyone could have their own. I talked him down to 6. First step crush graham crackers, sugar and butter in the bag….CAUTION…this does cause small holes to appear in the baggie!…dump in bowl…in SAME bag…mix pumpkin, vanilla pudding, pie spice and MILK!!!!!!!!….Needless to say once the milk hit the bag it was all over…AND THIS WAS PIE #1…..all in all it was a great experience….he learned the difference between a teaspoon and a Tablespoon….and he learned that once Mom stops speaking its time to play video games……..
I love you all very much and I’m sure your turkey was absolutely delicious!! Hope to see you soon

OMG that is freaking hilarious!! I can just see you standing in the kitchen with that look on your face when it’s time for Max to go play video games!! I wish I could have been there to try out those pies, too.
Our turkey turned out great and I even have about 15lbs of meat left to eat! LOL
Love and miss you all so much! COME SEE US!!!
