Money Saving Tip #1:
Don’t buy paper products!! The prices add up (even the least expensive). Just use your normal dinnerware. You may have lots of dishes to do, but you will save lots!
Money Saving Tip #2:
Ask guests to bring a dessert to share, if they want. Requiring a dish at parties (potluck) can be a burden to guests sometimes, but a lot of people don’t like coming empty handed.

Money Saving Tip #3:
Shop at discount grocery stores or go for the generic brands. We have a local discount store that has tons of stuff especially produce (great for veggies and dip or fruit salad).

My first money-saving tips is to survey your cabinets and decide what you already have on hand that can be used in your party dishes!

My second tip is to go for cost-effective crowd favorites. Staples like pasta and potatoes can feed many without costing you a fortune.

My third tip is to bake it from scratch! Investing in a few bags of sugar & flour can provide you with cakes, cookies, brownies, breads – party favorites! – at an economical price.

We have an “Un-Superbowl Party” where friends come over and we watch movies, play games, whatever, but don’t actually watch the Superbowl lol. One year I made homemade pizzas, which can get pretty expensive buying the sauces, toppings, cheese, etc., so we asked everyone to bring a different pizza topping. We all ate awesome homemade pizza, but it didn’t cost anyone very much because everyone chipped in.
My money saving tip is to make the party a pot luck. Everyone brings a dish to pass and no one person has to foot the bill for the whole party.

Money saving tip: plan your menu ahead of time, then you can keep an eye out for good sales on the ingredients you need!
Buy in bulk if you know you will host a crowd, bulk corn chips, bulf baked beans etc. walmart and sams club sells great choices in bulk, thanks
sewitupjulie at gmail dot com
you know ahead of time when the game is and the crowd will be coming over so a great tip for saving money and time is to make crock pot items about 2 weeks before game night like chilli, baked beans, salsas, heated dips like black bean nacho, and freeze them up in tupperware containers or freezer bags laying them flat stacked pattern in your freezer so on game day you can either microwave them to use or slowly heat them up in your crock pot again, and leave on low for them to enjoy, thanks
sewitupjulie at gmail dot com
if you think the kids will not be as interested in the game as the adults but do not want them to be left out of the fun, ask the parents coming to bring one or two of their board games by the time 4 or 5 couples have pooled them together with yours the kids will have lots games to play that are new and of interest to play with while the adults are watching the game, thanks
sewitupjulie at gmail dot com
pizza is propbably the biggest seller during football game time and very costly, so on game day or even a day or two before have everyone make their own pizzas and freeze them to save alot of money verses buying them from restaraunts. For kids size pizzas use round cake pans to make smaller sizes or as appitizer pizza bites use muffin pans & make smaller ones, thanks
sewitupjulie at gmail dot com
main entry: if your going to have a crowd over your house, have each person, to bring one thing and then you all can enjoy.and you dont loose alot of your money on the food,

When things that you always need/use are on sale- Stock up!! (things like toilet paper, tissues, soaps and shampoos)
yasmineo142[at]hotmail.com
Oops disregard my last comment I didnt see the “feed the crowd” part…
Well stock up on things needed, like paper plates, napkins and drinks. And if your cooking/ baking watch out for sales on all ingredients you will need
yasmineo142[at]hotmail.com
I buy and stock up year round for staples, like canned tomatoes, beans & fixings for chili or baked beans. Also on paper items, plates in small & large sizes ( if you are using paper) napkins, they do not have to be holiday themed, if want some pizazz get one package of themed & mix them with plain ones.

I’m not planning a Super Bowl party this year. My best money saving tip for feeding a large group is POTLUCK
Seriously though, I would use bulk, freezer, and generic to cook for and feed a large group. *Thanks* for the giveaway!
If you’re serving a dinner, serve pasta…it goes a long way in filling people up and can be made relatively inexepensively.
Audrey´s last blog ..Chocolate Zucchini Bread
POT LUCK! Maybe not everything, because after all you are the host, but have your guests bring an appetizer, dessert, or even fruit punch or something. It takes a nice chunk off the bill.

Sounds horribly simple but we use coupons a ton and make a list before we go. We only buy what is on the list.

#1 money saving tip. Make it BYOB!!!
Robin G´s last blog ..Wordless Wednesday 2/3
Make sure to have lots of popcorn and pretzels on hand. They are very inexpensive snacks. The more your guests eat of them the less more expensive they will consume.
Robin G´s last blog ..Wordless Wednesday 2/3
Ask some of the guests to bring over a dish, snack or dessert. Or ask someone to be in charge of bringing drinks, plates, cups and plastic utensils.
Make homemade buffalo chicken strips- much cheaper than premade- and sooooo yummy!! (I am a buffalo addict!)
Don’t buy already prepared food. Buy the ingredients and make it yourself. You’ll save a big chunk of change.

Instead of buying the expensive brands of snacks, and ingredients for food-settle for store brand items, which are a LOT cheaper and still taste great.
I think it would be a good idea to plan your snacks, finger foods and dinner plan around what is on sale and what coupons you have.
yasmineo142[at]hotmail.com
Also set a budget- to make sure you don’t go overboard!!!
I’m back! Actually, if you’re hosting an event like the Superbowl, I think people prob don’t want to eat a big meal anyway. So, just serve munchie/snack foods which would be less expensive than a big meal.
Tenille´s last blog ..Frecklebox
Tip 1 :Instead of using disposables, use your own dinnerware, flatware, and glassware!
Tip 2 : Set your budget! Looks easy but you have to make sure you follow it!
Tip 3 : Cook from scratches instead of buying prepared food.
Tip 4 : Have a potluck party! Seriously, you’d be amazed how much time you save and it’s fun to share and learn from potlucks!
Tip 4 :Be creative on appetizers, you can make them in bulk and in cheap price! Homemade fries, pie, pigs in blanket…etc.
I plan and buy ahead on what I am serving-this way I am prepared-not running around with my head cut off at the last moment
when our family gets together-each of us brings a passing dish or two-
I’m back! Did you watch Oprah today! There was a GREAT recipe that made me think of this giveaway. Potato Skins! Potatoes are cheap, so this would be an easy peasy recipe (all the recipes were for Superbowl parties). I’m going to make a note to go to the site and print them. Anyway, there’s my tip, cheap appetizer = potato skins!
Tenille´s last blog ..Pearl Paradise – Treat Yourself for Valentines Day!
Here’s another one, a chip party! Buy mayo/sour cream and make a variety of dips from just those two items and different seasonings in your household (onion soup mix, taco seasoning, greek seasoning, etc) and have your guests each bring a bag of chips (plain/ripple is best). Crunch crunch crunch!
Tenille´s last blog ..Pearl Paradise – Treat Yourself for Valentines Day!
Another one – alcohol is expensive so definitely suggest BYOB and maybe offer one huge punch bowl with vodka but that’s it – no open bar! (and keep the kids away from the punch bowl!)
Tenille´s last blog ..Pearl Paradise – Treat Yourself for Valentines Day!
Planning to feed a crowd can be a challenge but I’ve found it is easiest to plan a “partial pot luck”. As the host, you ask people to bring appetizers, finger foods and dessert. You supply the entree type item and the drinks. It cuts down the cost and makes it easier all around!
charmtime at gmail dot com
Another great thing to do is have a “BYOP” – bring your own plates (and cutlery). People bring their own items and take them home, which saves the cost of disposable plates and little cleanup!
charmtime at gmail dot com
If you are planning a whole family event, with kids and wives as well, you can plan a kid-friendly activity that ties into the meal while those who want to watch the game can watch! For example, the kids could help make no-bake cookies in the kitchen that can be part of the meal at halftime!

What about a pizza party? Have each guest bring a different topping, and you the host supply the pizza crusts. Voila! Kids and adults have fun making their own pizzas and you’re not spending money on take-out pizzas and footing the bill.
Tenille´s last blog ..Pearl Paradise – Treat Yourself for Valentines Day!
All GREAT ideas! Keep em’ coming!!
Thought of another one. Simple but they add up right? Make your own ice instead of buying bagged ice. Ta da!
Tenille´s last blog ..J.R. Watkins
A tip of mine, is to make a big batch of iced tea as opposed to buying a bunch of soft drinks. Almost everyone (in the South anyways), loves iced tea. I’d suggest making a sweetened and an unsweetened batch, making sure to have some artificial sweetener for the dieters in your group. There’s nothing worse than spending money on a bunch of liter soft drinks and after everyone’s gone home, finding all of them opened and half empty and flat.
If you are hosting a Super Bowl Party~ make it as inexpensive as possible- Have everyone bring a dish to share! Have each family bring a dish maybe 1) Italian ex:pasta or pizza
2) Mexican 3) American 4) Norwegian 5) French 6) German- Make the party a little unique, but fun- and it won’t be so costly since everyone pitched in. Oh, another great tip. If people want something other than water to drink- tell ‘em to bring their own. Most people are open to that- I’ve never had anybody tell me “Bad idea”

tip#2. subscribe to the sunday paper (its cheaper then buying it in the store) and then you will get all your coupons and be able to see all the ads to see what is on sale

Here’s a no brainer but it adds up in the long run – make your own ice cubes for the party. Buying ice makes no sense and then the bags end up in the garbage. At least when you make your own, the ice cube trays are reuseable. Ta da!

Money Saving Tip:
Pizza is usually pretty cheap and a crowd pleaser, especially with all of the deals at Pizza Hut, Little Caesars and Dominos!
One of my money saving tips is to cut coupons weeks, even months before the superbowl around what I would like to make. I save a TON at Walmart that way.
In addition – I have everyone bring a dish to share
)
Money Saving tip #2:
Ask everyone to bring a dish, drink, or a dessert.
Have everyone bring a dish to share (as well as a copy of the recipe if applicable), a Gladware container (or 2) and some Ziploc bags. This way they’re able to use their OWN containers to take home leftovers and not use all my stuff (which I NEVER get back)!!
Money Saving Tip:
Make appetizers instead of big dishes, which will be crowd pleasers and very fillng.
I stock up on party items when they’re on sale (or I have great coupons!!) to keep the cost of my parties down.

My money saving tip is to have people each bring a dish. It helps you save money on food!!
Stock up on B1G1 free at grocery stores and use these products for party nights, like tonight!!!
Money Saving Tip:
Make your own dip!
Money Saving Tip: Buy what is on sale and use your coupons!
One tip I have is to have an appetizer potluck for your superbowl party. Anyone who wants to bring something can bring their favorite appetizer. For us we love to snack on appetizers and don’t need a big fancy meal. Today I’m doing make your own nachos and tacos. I supply the chips and taco shells, taco seasoned turkey meat, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, olives, salsa, and guacamole. Yummy, and I was able to buy eveything in big packages (at Sam’s, lol) and it was very reasonable and so yummy!
another tip is to read the weekly sales that come out and stock up when your faves are on sale. Even better if you find them on sale and use coupons at the same time.
Thought of another one, for a Superbowl gathering or any time you have a group over for a sporting event. Turn down your heat a few degrees – with that many excited sports fans in a house, it’s going to be warm anyway. That’s a good way to save on your heating bill (people always open the window when it gets warm in the house right? Don’t let that happen, cool it down instead)
