Looking for something fun and local to do with your family this weekend, June 24 – 26? Why not check out the American Legion Homecoming in Chatham, IL?!
A hometown tradition started 63 years ago as a way to pay tribute to the American soldiers who were returning home from being overseas, this picnic-type festival features down home food, such as Walleye fish sandwiches, Brats and BBQ plus every one’s favorite Carnival foods – corn dogs, lemon shake-ups and funnel cakes!
Enjoy traditional Carnival rides for the kiddos and adults, LIVE music starting nightly at 7:30 p.m. and fun and games. Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. will feature a parade honoring men and women who have returned home from a tour of duty. The parade will make its way through old Chatham to the Square where you can enjoy $1 rides from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday.
We attend the opening night on Thursday and had a wonderful time! The kids loved the rides and I even took a trip down the HUGE slide with them! (something I don’t normally do!) We’ll be going back this weekend to play some more games and try out some of the traditional food. I hope to see you there!
