2012 Kia Optima Hybrid Review

Kia Optima

I drive a mini van.  I am a mom of three and a daycare provider, so space and safety are always an issue.  So, when I was contacted by Kia to review their Kia Optima Hybrid, I assumed it would be mainly a car for me or my husband to zip around town in with a child or maybe two, like the last Kia I test drove.

BOY, I was wrong!  The Kia Optima Hybrid has a very roomy interior that comfortably seated my family of 5!  We absolutely LOVED this car!!  Besides its sleek exterior that was sporty and fun – the inside was amazing with heated leather seats and every available option known to man – power windows and locks, moon and sun roof, AM/FM/CD/MP3 PLUS Satellite radio, USB ports, Bluetooth wireless technology, rear backup camera, navigation system, and much more!  I was in car luxury heaven!

This U.S.-built midsize sedan exceeds expectations and has become a sales leader for the record-breaking brand. The Optima’s combination of power, design, technology and fuel efficiency helps it stand out in a sea of midsize sedans.

I had never driven a Hybrid, but I had heard about them from people I know that have them.  The gas millage is unthinkable with 34 MPG in town and 39 MPG on the highway.  That’s a lot of driving without having to buy gas.  With a Hybrid engine that only kicks in when you need it – it’s a great car for the budget savy and green car owner.

When you think of a car that is great on gas millage, you don’t often think of it as being a “fast” car – but let me tell you, this car can get up and go!  Step on the pedal and you’re gone!  I have to say that I was having so much fun driving in town that I found myself looking for reasons to drive this baby on the interstate.  Kicking it into passing gear was no feat for the Optima – it merged onto the interstate and passed at speeds near 70 with the greatest of ease.  I would have to remind myself to check my speed while driving because I would frequently find I was going way above the speed limit and would have no idea! haha!

There is so much to love about this car, it’s hard to pick out just one thing.  But, if I had to, I would say that the comfortableness of it was my favorite.  It drives smooth, it’s quiet, plenty of room for my family and lots of extra features to make sure that driving is a pleasure no matter if you’re driving to the store or to another state.  It has what you need.

If I was in the market for a sedan, the Kia Optima Hybrid would be at the top of my list! I can’t say enough about it and how much my entire family loved it!  I am pretty sure Kia needs me to drive this car year-round for them and to rave about it to everyone I meet.  (hint, hint, hint!)  So, if you’re ever given the chance to test drive this beauty or are in the market for a new car, the Kia Optima Hybrid is your guy!
