Create A Thankful Tree with your kid’s this Thanksgiving season that’s sure to fill your heart!

My kids love doing projects and crafts where they can color and create. They especially love when they have a special reason to create something – like this Thankful Tree!

How To Create A Thankful Tree For Thanksgiving

I wanted to do something that would help remind us of all the things we have to thankful for this holiday season. As the kids get older, I think it’s sometimes harder for them to see how blessed we really are. So, this was the perfect activity for us!

There’s so many wonderful ideas we could have done, but chose this extremely easy and frugal Thankful tree! With a few branches from our backyard, a vase we had in the cabinet and some cards I already had on hand, this project was actually FREE for me!

Though if you didn’t have the items on hand, it wouldn’t cost much or anything if you got creative.

Here’s what you need to do to make your own Thanksgiving Thankful Tree!

I sent the kids into the backyard and had them gather sticks that were about twice their arm’s length – they had so much fun doing this and spent a lot of time running around searching. So much fun for them! Plus it gives them ownership in the project instead of just mom throwing something together.

We placed all the sticks in a vase to look like a tree. If you don’t have a vase at home, try a large mason jar, a large glass or any kind of taller container.

We then used tags I already had on hand and tied twine to them to hang on the branches. You could use card stock to cut out shapes, construction paper or anything on hand! Again…this is about being easy and fun!

Hang them on the branches with twine, string, ribbon, rubber bands or anything you have on hand!

What we do with our Thankful Tree is anytime we think about it, we take off a card and write down something we’re thankful for. You could do one a day from now until Thanksgiving or just as you see fit.

What we plan to do is to take them off at Thanksgiving and read them out loud together during our Thanksgiving meal. Such a wonderful way to see what is important in our children’s eyes.

I love that they get so excited to write down things they think of – from God to their parents to a warm house to special toys! Whatever is important to them is so special to see!
