Today’s Gonna Be A Good Day

If  you didn’t happen to catch Oprah yesterday, have I got a sight for you!

For Oprah’s 24th season opener, her staff surprised her with an amazing sight – a choreographed dance that 20,000 people on Michigan Avenue in Chicago performed to the Black Eyed Pea’s “I’ve got a feeling”.  It was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen!

Take a look for yourself….

Award winning director, Michael Gracey, whose work includes the dancing babies commercial for Evian and  T-Mobile,  pulled this off brilliantly!

It really makes my heart grow to see such harmony and togetherness between so many people.  I’ve never seen anything like it.

I think the only thing, in my mind, that compares is  the 1971  Coke commercial, “I’d like to buy the world a coke“. Yes, it’s not quite the same thing, but it is one of the best commercials of all time and shows the same type of team work and togetherness.

To echo America’s most famous talk show host’s words at the end of the performance of the largest flash mob in history, ” this is the coolest thing ever!”!

Really, what we would do without Oprah?

Tiger In The Rough

Tiger Woods

April 13, 1997…a day that I remember well.  It was the day that Tiger Woods stormed into the golf world with an unprecedented 12 shot victory at the Masters.   Everyone was fascinated with his long tee shots, his flashy smile, his boyish excitement and his masterful putts.  Now…he’s simply just a putz.

I have been captured by the Tiger Woods car crash scandal for the past week now.  I, like many, love Tiger.  He is the superstar of my generation.  He is the one that I can tell my kids, “I remember watching Tiger when…”  And now he has let me and the rest of his fans down.  I would probably feel better about the whole situation had he taken steroids or something.  At least then he would have only been cheating on a game, instead of his wife and children (the steroids thing would have still bothered me though probably).  Is he really that dumb to think that he was going to get away with something?  I mean, you were in a Vegas nightclub for crying out loud!

Some people say that they are happy because it brings him down to our level, that he’s human because he made a mistake…forgetting to pay the power bill is a mistake…cheating on your wife is a sin and nowhere near my level.  And now he’s trying to buy his marriage!  I guess that’s what you do if you have a billion dollars.  I remember the commercial with all the little kids that were saying, “I’m Tiger Woods”, what a great example this is for those kids.

Maybe Tiger and his wife can work things out, I’m not sure, it would take an awfully forgiving woman, but until then Tiger do us all a favor and keep your putts on the green and your putz in your pants.

Kate Plus Eight Minus Jon

Back when the whole Jon & Kate drama and divorce began, I was pretty hard on Jon and said that the best thing to do would be to get rid of him and call the new show Kate Plus 8 Minus The Asshole.  Well, I guess TLC took my advice but left out the best part of the title!  LOL

But, seriously, after seeing Kate on the Today show today, it just confirms that Jon has lost it.  I actually feel horrible katefor Kate and her kids.  I don’t care if Kate has money “hid” in bank accounts or if she acts totally different than we see on TV, what she and her children are going through right now, is unacceptable.  I cannot imagine the pain and the feelings of loneliness she is feeling.  I know that some of her friendships are gone, family members have turned against her and now her TV family from TLC is gone.

What in the world turns a man so heartless?  I have heard this time and time again from women, their once loving and considerate husbands turn cold and heartless.  They turn off their feelings towards their wife and begin to think all about themselves and what they want no matter who they hurt in the process.

Jon seems to have become blind to what he is doing to the future with his soon to be ex-wife and the family they have created – the family HE also wanted and vowed to make work and share.  One day, he is going to wake up and wonder what in the hell has he done to his life, to his family’s life, to the women he once loved and cared so much for.

Let’s remember that this is man who has no prospects of ever having a “real” job and no “real” income.  He has jumped from job to job his whole life and has now eliminated the income stream he has from TLC.  Yes, they took his name out of the title and probably planned to phase him out, but they still had a contract to fulfill and I’m sure there was some income left going into his pocket.  Not to mention royalties that I am sure will or would have come.

On an up note, Kate did confirm that she has a show in the making with TLC that will materialize in the near future.  I’m excited to see what they have in store for her and HAPPY to know that Jon will never see a dime of the income.  Maybe that’s the route to take.  Get rid of the Plus Eight in the title and just let Kate be on the show.  In time, phase the kids back in once the divorce is over.  I love seeing the kids grow and the experiences they are able to enjoy due to their current situations.  I’m just sorry that Jon doesn’t see it that way.

I just hope that this doesn’t get too much worse before it gets better, but I’m betting it gets a whole heck of a lot worse!  We’ll see soon enough!!

What do you think?  Are yon on Team Kate or Team Jon?  Do you feel that the show is to blame for the current drama or do you think it would have happened no matter what?  I’d love to know!

Jon Gosselin’s “New Gig and New Girlfriend”

Jon Gosselin has anothernew girlfriend, 22-year-old Hailey Glassman, the daughter of the plastic surgeon who performed Kate’s tummy tuck. They just spent the weekend in St. Tropez, and are apparently designing a children’s clothing line together for Ed Hardy.

Ok – seriously!  What the hell?!  First off…how in the world did they end up together?  Jon obviously has had some work done – for free I’m sure, from the Glassman’s.   Look at him.  What in the world could he have had done?  He’s a slob.  Well, except for his designer shirts that have obviously gotten him a job designing kids clothes!   We knew there was no way he was going to go out and get a real job like a real man would do.  NO – he’s become such a self centered jerk, there’s no way he would do that.  I guess having eight kids qualifies you to be an expert in kids clothing and designing them with your stoner girlfriend makes sense.

There is no way in the world will my children EVER wear his line of clothing.  I don’t care how cute the Gosselin kids look in them.  That’s right!  He’s saying that the kids will model them.  Hmmm…we’ll see what Kate has to say about that.

I’m telling you – I dislike this man more and more each day.  I hope to goodness that when the show comes back on he’s no where to be found and they call it  Kate Plus Eight Minus the Asshole.

Jon & Kate

j&KNow, I know that many of you are just plain tired of hearing about all the Jon & Kate drama and could care less about what happens to them, but I just have to put my two cents in on this on-going saga.

I’ve been a J&K fan since the very first show and I’ve faithfully watched every episode and every re-run and picked up every article on the family.  No, I’m not a weirdo..I just kinda enjoy them.  Yes, Kate even embarrassed me from time to time. But I think I enjoyed their show because they were so real.  No sugar coating their fights or their responses to their children’s melt downs.  Plus…it’s kinda nice seeing someone that you can relate with, but on a much smaller scale for sure!

I just watched last night’s retrospective episode and I actually cried at the end.  (again, not a a weirdo!)  I think you just feel like you know them since you watch  from the very beginning.   Seeing all the  good times and then the decline to now - it was just sad.  When Hannah hugged Jon at the end of the episode  and told him that she missed him …well, that did it for me.  I got all teary and my husband even got a little mad at Jon.  “He just doesn’t get it” he said.  Jon just seems to be all in the now and not looking ahead at the big picture and what he’s going to miss out on.  I mean, how in the world do you go from renewing your wedding vows to the downward spiral towards divorce in a little over 6 months.  I don’t know…it’s not my life I guess. I just hated to see it happen to them.  I was rooting for them to work it out.  Oh well.

Well, I will be one of those people that continues to watch the show.  I am anxious to see Kate basically be a single mom on the show.   I think it may end up to be inspiring to a mom out there going through the same thing but with only a couple of kids.  We’ll see in August and I’m sure I’ll have something more to say then!  : )

UPDATE:   After I finished the post above, I headed to check on the kids who had been roaming around while I finished up.  This is what I found….

Hmmm…maybe I should save my blogging  for nap time or after the kids are in bed.  LOL!
