There’s No Better Way…

To spend a Birthday than with the ones you love!

Today I turned 32.  Not 22, not 30, but….THIRTY TWO YEARS OLD!

Where in the world did the time go?  Now, I’m not freaked about turning 32 – I’m just freaked that I am 32!   I don’t feel like what  I thought  I would at 32.  I mean – I have been married for 5 years (been with my husband for 10 years total), I have 2 children and I’m a work at home mom running a daycare and  family.

No offense to those around me, past or present, but I thought you guys seemed much older than I feel!  HAHAHAHA!

I do feel old some days, but it’s the weirdest thing…

When you’re younger, a teen or early twenties, you see those around you that are adults with real jobs and real families and they just seem like 32 year old adults.  Sometimes,  I still feel like I’m in my early twenties with all these responsibilities and life experiences.  Don’t get me wrong…I don’t want to go back to 20.  I’m loving  my life right here, right now!  It’s just amazing to me to actually be 32.  (sigh)

Celebrating my Birthday turned into a weekend long affair. It was great!  I have the most wonderful and loving family and friends ever!

A two hour Psychic/Medium appointment (our 1st time going) with my sister left me ready for some adult beverages and an adult dinner on Saturday night.  (I know, some believe and some don’t.  This guy would have made you a believer!!)  Had an amazing meal  and met up with some friends at a really fun bar afterwards.  I hadn’t been to a bar to “hang out” in 4 years – I kid you not!   It was fun, but I was hoarse and tired the next day. (I AM 32  now!)

A relaxing day on Sunday with dinner with my husband and kids with gifts and steaks and cake!  THE BEST!

Monday – today – my actual birthday was wonderfully spent with my family and my daycare kids with a pizza party and cake. We played games of Musical Chairs and Duck, Duck, Goose and I spent the evening dancing to kids songs and teaching Ella and Andrew to flip over.

So…YES, I am 32 years old today.  And yes, I did pick green beans out of my hair at dinner tonight – a totally different kind of night than I spent 10 years ago on my birthday.

But, would I ever go back to 22?

Nope!

Would you?!

My Little Sister and I

This past weekend my little sister, Kari turned 26.  We enjoyed a great afternoon at her house for yummy food and good company.  I’m proud of the women my sister has become, the nurse that she is, and the wonderful aunt she is to my children.  I look forward to the good times ahead of us in the years to come.

Gotta love family!

Today was my sister, Kari’s, 26th birthday.  It’s so hard to believe that 26 years ago today, I became a big sister for the 1st time.  Kari is the best sister and the most wonderful aunt.  The kids love her to death and we do as well. My little sister is also a Hospice Nurse and a damn good one at that.  It takes a special kind of person to do the job she does and to do it well. We’re so proud of her and that she found something that she is so passionate about.  God knows that I could NEVER do the job that she does.  So, thank you for doing it for the rest of us!

Kari hosted her 1st party at her house today and we made the  1 hour trip to join her and her fiance and their friends.   It was a wonderful time and I hate that we don’t get to do it more often.

Ella always asks me if her dad and I can go on a date night so that “Aunt Klair” can come over and watch them.  So cute!  As you may remember, Aunt Klair spoils them by letting them stay up late and eat lots of junk food.  Mainly sweets, but really anything she can find in the house that they normally wouldn’t be allowed stuff themselves with.

I know that my mom would be very proud of the beautiful women she has become.I’m glad we were able to spend some time with her today and to celebrate her 26th.    It was a fun time!

After the party, we headed to the grandparents house to visit a while.  They have a wonderful house and a big yard that the kids love.  But, today it was muddy from all the rain and we mainly stayed inside.   Andrew discovered the piano and Ella the dog – lucky.

It was a great day and we were able to grab some awesome shots out in their back yard with the “river”(pond), as Ella calls it,  in the background.    Ella didn’t want to leave and was very upset that we couldn’t stay for “breakfast”, even though it was 7:00pm at night.

The day was kinda damp and chilly, a reminder that Fall is here and winter is coming.  I’m sad that pretty soon we’ll be cooped up indoors most days and won’t feel the warmth of a summer breeze for another few seasons.  I need to move somewhere warm.  I miss the ocean and the sand.  I need them and would love to be near there year-round.  One day….one day I’ll pack up my family and move to warmer shores.  But, for now, I’ll make the best of the last warm days of the year and spend time with the ones I love doing the Fall-like “things” we love to do!  Pumpkins, mums, apple pie, Halloween, Thanksgiving…they’re all some of my favorite times of the year and I’m glad to pass on those joys to my children!
