MY THOUGHTS

I was given the choice of any 2 products ecostore USA has to offer to check out and being the green cleaning product lover that I am, I chose the Auto Dish Powder and Citrus Spray Cleaner.

I’m a real stickler when it comes to my dishes, so I was really checking the glasses and silverware as they came out of the dishwasher after using the  Auto  Dish Powder. (both that seem to come out yucky without a quality product)   They were clean and spotless!  I didn’t notice any food specs, film or streaks on any of the dishes.  They were just as clean as when I used my regular brand.  I loved that it was a powder that you only had to use a little bit of. Less product packaging, means less waste – and that’s a good thing!

The Citrus Spray Cleaner did an equally good job of cleaning off the stove, counter top, refrigerator doors and whatever else I could find to wipe down in the kitchen.  The smell was very light and almost barely noticeable.  There were no worries of using it around the kids or breathing it in while using it.  It wiped away clean and didn’t leave a film or streaks.  Everything “felt” clean after using it.  No sticky residue like you get from some non-green products.

I was VERY pleased with the performance of both of these products.  I would definitely recommend them to you and will be trying more from the ecostore USA line myself!

Yet Another Snowfall…

Well, the snow has stopped falling and has left yet another 3 or 4 inches to our yard.  I’m really starting to think that Winter will never end, but I’m going to go by the Calendar and know that it really will end soon!

Brian was home yesterday thanks to our good ol’ Presidents!  It’s always great to have him here all day and into the evening. We get to  enjoy having dinner together and doing bedtimes together.  He ended up sneaking out during nap time and make a huge igloo and tunnel for the kids to play in.  They LOVED it!  I’ll post some pics on it later…but here’s a sneak peek!

I’m down two daycare kids today and it’s kinda quiet.  I let my sweet hubby sleep in since he’s been so kind to let me sleep in whenever possible.  Andrew seems to get up at 7am no matter what day it is!  I guess it could be worse!

Ella has her big 4 year old check up today!  She’s so excited and feels so big!  I’m so glad she’s gotten over a lot of her shyness in the past year.  I really attribute that to going to Preschool.  We just love it there as much as she does!  The amount of growth she’s had since September is AMAZING!

Meet Tinky and Nut.

They are the first Build-A-Bear animals to join our family.  Tinky came to join us for Ella’s 2nd Christmas from her Aunt Kari and Nut on Ella’s 3rd Birthday.  Ella loved going to the Build-A-Bear store at the mall and picking out Nut to join Tinky at our home.  She helped stuff her, put her little “beating” heart in, fluffed her up and dressed her in baby clothes!  She has really enjoyed these two stuffed gals to death.

Now, meet Holly and Hal.  They are the two newest members of our family!

So adorable!  Both dressed for winter and ready to go!

I was so excited to be asked by Build-A-Bear to welcome these adorable moose into our family.  I just knew Ella and Andrew would love them!

We saved them for Christmas morning and put them under the tree from Santa.  You should have seen the look on Ella’s face when she saw the signature boxes sitting there!  She ripped right into them and they’ve been hanging out with Tinky and Nut ever since.

Build-A-Bear Workshop has been named one of the “Best 100 Companies To Work For” and is backed by the Good Housekeeping Seal of approval.  Good to know that you’re supporting a wonderful business when you spend your dollars in one of their many stores!

As a mom of 2 small children, my experience with electronic games has been “zero”.  I have not even picked up an electronic game since the Nintendo Gameboy YEARS ago.  So, when Leapfrog contacted me and offered to send the Leapfrog Leapster2 and the Zippity Learning System for my family to try out AND 1 of each to giveaway here at All Things Mamma – I was all game!

LEAPSTER2

First off, the Leapster2 is not your Gameboy, by any stretch.  It has wonderful color graphics, sound that is actually easy to understand, a touch screen and comes with educational, yet FUN games.

So, not only are your children entertained for hours (or not if you don’t let them play until they can’t hold their head up anymore!) but they are learning solid school skills that will take them through preschool into elementary school!  I was amazed at how fast Ella picked up on playing the game and playing it well!  She has learned to determine uppercase letters from lowercase letters, counting, order of events, and responsibility.

We have not even began to explore the online resources, but have set it up.  I am looking forward to checking it all out!

This is definitely a “toy” that you will want to purchase for your child that will give back to them in many ways that you can be proud of!

ZIPPITY LEARNING SYSTEM

The new Zippity Learning system is a fun, interactive game that your children play while hooked up to your TV.  Think of it as a Wii for kids.  Jumping, hopping, running and dancing all while learning are all part of this fun game!

“The Zippity system comes with eight built-in games featuring the popular Playhouse Disney characters from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, My Friends Tigger & Pooh, Little Einsteins and Handy Manny. While using the interactive bopper and mat, your child can stomp, swing, bop and march while playing along with the onscreen characters.  While there are the 8 built in learning activities, you can also buy additional games and activities to go along with it with your child’s favorite characters such as Disney Princesses and Cars.

The Zippity was enjoyed by all of us!  From my 19 month old who could easily “bop” the bopper or jump up and down like a frog to my husband who was getting down with Goofy’s dance moves!  Definitely a fun, interactive game that will keep your kids moving and grooving!

Super Bowl Party Foods – Whats on your table?

It’s Super Bowl Sunday!  The Saints vs. Colts, the best commercials of the year, awesome entertainment and FOOD.  AHHH…YES, yummy, delicious (not so good for you!) food!

I’ve never been a huge football fan, (gasp! booo!!)  but I have always enjoyed the game and I’ve always really enjoyed the tailgating aspect of the game.  Burgers, brats, wings, dips, chip, BEER!  Fun times!   Being as my husband is a HUGEEEEE  football fan, I try to get into it at least this one time a year (and anytime the Packers have a big game!) by making some yummy food to enjoy while everyone is rooting on their favorite team.

This year, I plan on making a huge batch of chili (so that there are leftovers for the week) and some yummy finger foods.  I swear, I could just make meals of appetizers for the rest of my life and be happy.  Well, as long as the appetizers included some meat and chocolate. (but not together!)

Here’s some of my FAV appetizers – plus one of my own recipes – to help you get in the game day spirit.  Enjoy!!

Here’s a fun and cute appetizer that is easy and sure to please even the kids!

And one of my family’s favorite dips….

Betty Jo’s Bean Dip

(Betty Jo was my neighbor growing up.  She made this awesome dip from time to time! Thanks Betty Jo!!)

8 oz Cream Cheese

12oz Sour Cream

1 can Refried Beans (your fav variety)

1 small Onion (diced)

6-8 drops Tabasco Sauce

Large pkg Cheddar Cheese

Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl, saving half the cheese.  Place into a casserole dish and top with the remaining cheese.  Bake at 350 degrees for 20 mins.  Serve for corn chips.  Mmmmm!!!  Yummy goodness!!

Go Green With Marcal Small Steps! Review & Giveaway (CLOSED)

As a mom and in-home daycare provider, my life is full of messy hands, runny noses, spills to clean and tushes to wipe. I sometimes feel like my life is over-run with paper products. I make a conscious effort to reduce the amount of paper products I use, but it’s inevitable that it’s a lot some days!

That’s why I was really excited to learn about Marcal Small Steps! Marcal Small Steps is an earth-friendly paper goods company that makes their products from recycled paper NOT trees. For over five decades, Marcal has been saving trees and reducing landfill by making its paper products from recycled paper. Marcal uses paper collected from curbs in residential neighborhoods in cities and towns across America; from the small blue baskets in office buildings, unwanted junk mail, and waste from printers; all in an effort to do something good… to produce something that people need. Marcal uses no chlorine bleach, dyes or fragrances in their products thus creating a hypoallergenic paper product.

Did you know that Americans throw out 210 tons of waste each year and that much of it is paper? Over 40% of the paper that would ordinarily end up in the landfill, can be recycled and Marcal takes advantage of that! Over 200,000 tons of paper is processed by Marcal yearly which produces 12 million cases of paper products!

Marcal was kind enough to send me over a whole case full of their products to try out and report back to all of you on and I have to say, I was impressed! The napkins were soft and absorbent, the towels were able to clean a variety of messes and hold up well and the toilet tissue was…well….great! I was very surprised at how long the toilet tissue lasted. We normally go through a roll in my household in about 2-3 days. The Marcal toilet tissue lasted over a week!

I will definitely buy Marcal Paper products for my family in the future…ONCE we run out of the Marcal products we currently have.  They last much longer than our normal paper products!

My Review

Vaseline was kind enough to send all three of their Vaseline Sheer Infusions, Botanical Blend, Mineral Renewal and Vitamin Burst, for me to try out.  I’ve grown up using Vaseline brand items, so I knew that most likely this would be a product that I enjoyed.

Being a daycare provider and a germ freak, I wash my hands 100 times a day, leaving them dry and sore most days.  Other lotions tend to burn and cause my hands to be red after applying them, but that wasn’t the case with Vaseline Sheer Infusion.  It immediately made my hands feel soft and not greasy, almost silk like.  The smell was a little strong at first, but softened to a nice pleasant scent as it dried.  I even applied this lotion to my 3 year old daughter’s dry hands and had no complaints from her at all.

I would recommend this lotion to anyone wanting to use a lotion that treated the skin, instead of sitting on top of it.  I noticed a definite improvement in my skin’s texture with regular use.
