Everyone loves the air fryer for easy Air Fryer French Fries, Air Fryer Chicken Drumsticks, and Air Fryer Smashed Brussels Sprouts, but what about for baking?!

I love baking in my air fryer because it can really speed up the cooking time for many of my family’s favorite baked goods. The way the air circulates in the air fryer helps baked goods cook evenly and quickly. This is why I wanted to try making crescent rolls in the air fryer rather than in the oven. I knew that the air fryer would bake the crescent rolls fast, keeping the inside tender and the outside flakey.

Of course, I don’t want just regular plain crescent rolls—I want something with a little more excitement! I decided to test out making stuffed crescent rolls in the air fryer and ohhhh boy were the results amazing. I had to share my air fryer crescent roll recipes with you because they were just that good. You are never going to bake crescent rolls in the oven ever again!

Air Fryer Crescent Roll Ingredients

See recipe card below this post for ingredient quantities and full instructions.

To start:

  • Refrigerated crescent roll dough – Any brand of crescent rolls will work, just make sure there are 8 crescent rolls in the tube. I like Pillsbury best because they bake perfectly every time.

Chocolate rolls:

  • Semisweet chocolate chips
  • Butter – I use unsalted butter, as the refrigerated crescent roll dough is already salty enough.

Caprese rolls:

  • Mozzarella cheese – You can use either fresh mozzarella or shredded mozzarella, as pictured.
  • Tomato
  • Basil
  • Olive oil
  • Balsamic vinegar – Look for balsamic vinegar that has been aged at least a few years for a rich taste and natural sweetness.

Cheddar & Swiss rolls:

  • Cheddar cheese– I like to use extra sharp cheddar, which has a more assertive flavor.
  • Swiss cheese – If you can’t find shredded Swiss cheese, use sliced cheese in its place. Four slices will work.
  • Italian seasoning
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper

Substitutions and Variations

Air fryer crescent rolls are so versatile, you can really stuff the rolls with almost anything! Here are a few quick ideas for other air fryer crescent roll fillings:

  • Replace the chocolate chips with ½ cup chopped soft caramels. Caramel crescent rolls are amazing!
  • Use ¼ cup chocolate chips and ¼ cup chopped peanuts to make a chocolate peanut filling. This gives the rolls a little bit of a crunch along with the sweet chocolate.
  • Add ¼ cup arugula to the caprese roll filling. This gives a peppery taste and some extra nutrition.
  • Skip the Italian seasoning and the garlic powder in the cheddar and Swiss rolls for a very basic, kid-friendly snack crescent roll.
  • Add a thin deli slice of ham to the cheddar and Swiss rolls to make a stuffed crescent roll sandwich.
steps to make air fryer crescent rolls

How to Make Air Fryer Crescent Rolls

  1. Prep your air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 325ºF and line the air fryer basket with parchment paper. The parchment paper should just cover the bottom of the air fryer. You still want the air to be able to flow around the basket easily.
  2. Get out the crescent dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough triangles and lay them out on a clean work surface. You want to get all 8 crescent rolls in the tube separated.
  3. Make your filling: Choose which crescent roll filling you’d like to make. Follow the directions to prep that filling. Each one is a little different so read the directions below carefully!
  4. Stuff the crescent rolls: Add the filling to your crescent rolls. No matter which filling you are using, you are going to want to keep the filling near the bottom, wide part of the crescent roll. Fold the widest part of the crescent roll dough upward, enclosing your filling. Continue to roll the dough up toward the point of the triangle, just as you would if you were making regular crescent rolls.
  5. Air fry the crescent rolls: Place the stuffed crescent rolls in the prepared air fryer basket. Cook the rolls for 10 minutes. They will be golden brown all the way around. Let the rolls cool for a few minutes, then enjoy!

Quick Tip

Use jumbo refrigerated croissant dough to make huge stuffed croissants. Bigger is definitely better in this case! Just remember that larger croissants will take a little longer to cook. Bake your jumbo croissants for about 12-13 minutes in the air fryer.

How to Store Leftover Air Fryer Crescent Rolls

Once your crescent rolls are baked and cooled, you can store them in an airtight container. The chocolate stuffed crescent rolls can be kept at room temperature for 3-4 days. The containers of cheese-stuffed rolls should be placed in the fridge for 3-4 days.

To reheat air fryer crescent rolls, you can place them in the air fryer at 350ºF for 1-2 minutes to reheat. This will make the outside of the rolls nice and flaky, and the filling perfectly warm.

FAQs

Can you bake Pillsbury crescent rolls in an air fryer?

Yes! You can definitely cook Pillsbury crescent rolls in the air fryer. Any brand of crescent rolls will bake beautifully in the air fryer—I have tried quite a few!

How long does it take to cook crescent rolls in an air fryer?

It takes about 8 minutes to cook regular-sized crescent rolls in the air fryer. Every air fryer is a little different, so the times may vary by 1-2 minutes.

Can parchment paper go in the air fryer?

Yes! You can use parchment paper in the air fryer, however keep in mind that the paper will block some of the airflow. I recommend cutting the parchment paper so it fits just into the bottom of the air fryer tray and does not come up over the edges. This will give as much airflow as possible while also giving the crescent rolls a firm tray to sit on.

  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 325ºF.
  • Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean countertop or large cutting board. Separate into 8 triangles along the perforations.
  • Put an even amount of the desired filling on the wide end of each triangle.
